With so many people becoming first-time dog parents during the pandemic and those dogs not getting any socialization during the shutdowns, it created a myriad of behavioral issues.” Pet owners are better recognizing the value of professional training to address behavioral issues and enhance the bond with their pets. Terrie Hayward, MEd, KPA-faculty, CSAT, CPDT, CDBC is a Karen Pryor Academy Faculty Certified Training Partner. Karen Pryor Academy recently announced their new online-based dog trainer professional course for pet professionals and aspiring dog trainers wishing to be certified by KPA, an organization that is often referred to as the Harvard of dog training. While dog training can be localized, Hayward and many renowned dog trainers work virtually, opening their audiences and clientele to anyone who speaks their language and has internet access. “It’s an important shift for folks to realize that they aren’t confined to a geographic location for help or work.” Graduates of the program are armed with the skills necessary to teach group and private classes for both working and companion dogs using modern, science-based training methods.
