So many factors create a Charleston woman – background, family composition, career, education, history, future – making the topics available to us feel so wide and varied. It’s a great problem to have, allowing us to offer an interesting assortment of content and valuable information which, we hope, can prove useful in your daily lives – from stories meant to inspire you to quick tips that have proven successful for women just like you. Whether born here or transplanted, Charleston women are charming and strong. They are fierce when the need arises to protect their communities, their families or their futures. They are compassionate when the city is hurting, and they rally to ensure their city – our city — thrives. Currently serves as Director of Community Health, Roper St. Francis Healthcare — the first for the system — while simultaneously a managing director of GOODSTOCK Consulting LLC. 2- Andrea Mazurek | CHS area resident for 14 years, currently residing in North Charleston. North Charleston firefighter and emergency medical technician for almost 15 years. Also serves as emergency services peer counselor with the Lowcountry Firefighter Support Team. Currently attends school at Holy Cow Yoga with a goal of becoming a yoga instructor. 3 - Hillary Sadler, RNC-OB, MSN, IBCLC | CHS area resident for 17 years, currently living in McClellanville. Owner and founder of Baby Settler at babysettler.com. Online educator, lactation consultant and registered nurse. 4 - Christine Bush Roman | CHS area resident for 10 years, currently residing on Johns Island. Artist and art instructor at ChristineBushRoman.com. 5 - Deandra Newby, DDS (USAF) | Currently resides in Goose Creek, where she has been stationed for the last eight months. Dr. Newby has been a dentist in the military for the past 13 years. 6 - Angela Klick | CHS area resident for 21 years, currently residing in Mount Pleasant. Founder and owner of She Tris Sprint Triathlon. Founder of the Charleston Tri It for Life chapter and currently the Tri It for Life national board president. Student and retail business owner of Park Pets Park Circle – one of only seven Black-owned pet stores in the US — at Parkpetsparkcircle.com. 9 - Katie Wells | CHS area resident for 22 years, currently living on James Island. Adjunct professor in the Hospitality Department at her alma mater, College of Charleston. Master’s degree from Villanova. Serves as worldwide People and Culture Ambassador for ASM Global, the world’s largest venue management company, spanning five continents and 14 countries. 10 - Janice Hudgins | CHS resident for many years. Owner and chef at Little Miss Ha Vietnamese Cuisine and mom to four children.
