A wedding is full of reverence and joy, and the ceremony is the centerpiece of the event. It is reverent in that fact that meeting at the altar before family and friends to be joined together spiritually is serious, yet it’s also joyful as a celebration of love. You are telling an important part of your story. When it’s done well, the ceremony can be a masterpiece. The traditional wedding ceremony has some basic elements: processional, welcome and greeting, prayers, declaration of intent, giving away the bride, scripture or other reading, officiant remarks, vows, ring exchange, pronouncement and kiss, introduction of the couple and recessional. Whether you follow this timeline or choose another, the music, words and actions work together to create a beautiful picture. The music is the canvas on which your ceremony will be created. What kind of music speaks to you? A small ensemble, acoustic guitar, church organ or piano are all popular choices. What song do you want to accompany you down the aisle?
