Please check the host website for the most up-to-date details. 28 Danae Hays The First Time Tour Comedian Danae Hays performs at North Charleston Coliseum at 8 p.m DECEMBER 01-03 South Carolina Ballet Presents: The Nutcracker Classic Tchaikovsky ballet with new sets at Charleston Music Hall starting at 7 p.m. 05-07 Christmas Candlelight Service An annual tradition at the Citadel, cadets perform seasonal pieces alongside the Citadel's band, choir, chorale and the Summerall Chapel Praise team. 06 Holiday Street Festival Christmas shopping with live entertainment, children's activities and local vendors on Isle of Palms from 2-7 p.m. 07 Holiday Parade A parade running through downtown starting at 3 p.m. and ending at 6 p.m. with the lighting of the Tree of Lights in Marion Square. 10 A Gullah Christmas Concert at Boone Hall Plantation Featuring Gullah Christmas stories and songs performed by the talented Plantation Singers. 12-21 The Charleston Christmas Special Annual holiday music show celebrating 30 years at Charleston Music Hall. 13 Annual Reindeer Run/Walk Family 5K through downtown Charleston with costume contest, benefiting MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital. 13 Holiday Parade of Boats Decorated boats parade from Cooper River through Charleston Harbor to Ashley River. Waterfront viewing starts at 6 p.m. 22 Celtic Woman Irish all-female group with a full symphony orchestra performs at the Gaillard Center. NOVEMBER 01 Johns Island Harvest Festival Family fun with bluegrass music, pumpkin decorating, hayrides, barbecue and a crafters market. 07 The Dames Mini Conference A full-day event dedicated to both business and play. A place where women can strategize about business, create long-lasting, meaningful connections and make unforgettable memories with women who support them unconditionally in their business endeavors. 07-16 Charleston Literary Festival For 10 days, world-renowned authors gather at the Dock Street Theatre to discuss their work and generate conversations about books and the ideas they carry within. Each panel is an hour-long discussion held at a set time, allowing attendees to choose the topics they're passionate about. 08 Holy Smokes BBQ Fest Featuring four distinct styles from the nation's top pitmasters and live music starting at 11 a.m. All donations go to Hogs for a Cause and the Ronald McDonald House in Charleston. 10 Whiskey in America Archaeology Lecture and Tasting Event. Historical presentation on American spirits with traditional colonial-era tastings. 11 Deana Carter Country and retrorock performer Deana Carter performs at Seabrook Island Clubhouse on Veterans Day. 14-16 Food & Wine Classic in Charleston Threeday event featuring world-class chefs, wines and spirits showcasing the charm of Charleston’s culture and the chance to try the best foods the Holy City has to offer. 31 New Year’s Eve Glow Party Celebrate the new year with the whole family at Sweetgrass Inn, where they’re throwing a vibrant neon glow party complete with a DJ, desserts and, for adults, a bar to toast the new year. JANUARY 08-18 Charleston Restaurant Week For 10 days all over Charleston, restaurants participate with limited-time menus and special deals while highlighting new restaurants. 11 Grand Kyiv Ballet Presents Snow Queen World premiere ballet based on Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale with live orchestra at Charleston Music Hall. 21 Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with Ray Chen Prestigious touring orchestra performs at the Gaillard Center starting at 7:30 p.m. 22 Cirque Musica: Heroes and Villains Acrobatic performances featuring movie and comic book heroes and villains at Gaillard Center at 7:30 p.m. 24 Taste of Folly Establishments along Folly Beach serve their best dishes and showcase their skills through live demonstrations and a variety of contests set throughout the day. Starts at 10 a.m. on Center Street. 24-31 Annual Charleston Comedy Week A weeklong festival and collaboration with local venues to feature comedy groups and routines ranging from local to national comedians. Performances range from stand-up to improv to sketch comedy routines. 31 Charleston Half Marathon and 5K Annual race through Charleston benefiting Engaging Creative Minds with postrace entertainment at Joseph P.
