What makes She Shines especially meaningful is that it is driven by the voices of our readers. Earlier this year, we invited our audience to participate in a write-in voting process where they could nominate the women they believe truly shine in a variety of categories. We want to stress how much we value our readers' voices and their role in recognizing the women making a real difference in our community. Over several weeks, votes poured in from across the Charleston area. Once voting closed, all submissions were carefully tallied to determine our first-place honorees, along with finalists representing second and third place, including ties where they occurred.
