Charleston Women Summer 2024

The vision for this cover started about a year ago when our photographer, Mark Staff, texted the team a photo of an idea of women standing in scaffolding for our entrepreneur edition. We all fell in love with the idea then. We like the representation of women building something and standing together on that structure — a commitment to work and togetherness. We liked the juxtaposition of extreme feminine energy with the rugged industrial look. We felt it showed everything about our women of Charleston that we hoped to show. However, at that time, the idea came a little late to source permits, labor and the right location. We needed a plan, so this year, we were ahead of the game. The permits and insurance were handled early, and our photographer scouted a wonderful building, the site of a historic law firm on Broad St., where we could shoot. Some of the staff commissioned — or volunteered is more like it — our husbands to help build the structure for the ladies to pose on. The evening sun started to come in just right, with a little breeze catching skirt tails; and we had magic. Following an amazing shoot, we all strolled down to Dare Gallery at 31 Broad to enjoy charcuterie and drinks for a job well-done. We enjoyed looking at eclectic selections of art and gifts, as well as taking advantage of the adorable courtyard hidden inside the gallery. It was a perfect evening to celebrate our business leaders and the amazing things that happen when building visions and dreams together. –Lorna Hollifield, managing editor www.CharlestonWomenPodcast.com | FB & Instagram @CharlestonWomen Women Business Leaders Ann Edwards A Forever First Lady in Charleston Build this Dream Together Summer is Hot Business Scorching Professional Looks Area Artists Achieve: From Paintings to Productions CHARLESTON ENTREPRENEUR EDITION Summer 2024 About the Cover Top, left to right: Allison Hunt (Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum), Angie Balderson (Haven’s Furniture & Home Décor), Roni Haskell (That SC Real Estate Chick), Stephanie Postell (Anchor Heating & Air), Amber Scott (80 Muze).
