Realizing that many other women were experiencing a similar plight, Wright developed a passion for coaching career-driven moms on how to gain confidence through style by selecting pieces that work for their individual body types, personalities and day-to-day lives. In 2021, Wright launched her business Soar in Style. She noted the acronym SIS is a nod to the term of endearment used for building rapport between women. By helping her clients understand the concept of what she called “dopamine dressing,” Wright achieves exactly that. “Building a foundational wardrobe of essential pieces that feel good and look amazing creates confidence, which in turn generates better performance throughout the day,” Wright explained. Another layer of Wright’s brand is her “Free Mama” movement, which endorses enjoyment of guiltless time away from motherhood. While brainstorming on how to cement this theme with Soar in Style, Wright birthed the concept of hosting a Free Mama fashion show. “The idea was not just to provide entertainment, but to curate a movement within a community that celebrates moms,” Wright said. “On a deeper level, I wanted to help moms outside of the show by providing them with resources all year round.” In February 2024, on the night of her birthday, Wright had a whim and posted a video on her Instagram account, @jeauxtales, announcing that she would be hosting the Free Mama fashion show. Although she hadn’t yet planned the event, the post went viral and her inbox began flooding with messages from women inquiring how they could participate. First, Wright had to nail down the details. She said she couldn’t think of a better time to host the event than on Mother’s Day. With only two and a half months to plan, she urgently needed to find the perfect venue. Thanks to manager of the historic Society Hall, Todd Chas, Wright secured the date and location. “I couldn’t have ever done this without Todd,” she acknowledged. Then Wright began the search for locally based mama designers and boutique owners, whom she found by stalking Instagram, networking and asking her circle of friends. Two of the twelve brands she featured included founder of Zuriel Kingdom Collections and beauty influencer Shaniequa Washington and owner of “The Edge Girl” online boutique Theresa Spann. Meanwhile, Wright sourced 20 models. The only requirement was that each had to be a mom who would commit to practice. “No experience is necessary and we will coach you,” Wright said.
