Will you wonder at the sunset painting the sky pastel hues, Silence upon silence; A stranger to this sacred space where feet sink and foundations fail, Where wings and fins reign. Will you sense how this lowcountry is all at once an image of your soul outside your body and The Earth’s own currency human hands could never possess. The grasses embody the shape shifting nature of things, Brown to green to purple and back again as the earth turns. This sweetgrass grows before you, and will grow after You are gone.
