It was the definition of beauty in its purest form. These ladies are movers and shakers in our community, and they are leading the charge of giving back. Now, it’s our turn. Maybe you don’t own a business or have thousands of social media followers, but I can assure you, you have gifts and can set aside some time to dedicate to helping others in our city. Grab some girls, pick a cause and just get out there. Make your name ring a bell for all of the best reasons: because you’ve stood up for someone in the shadows, someone unrepresented, the someone’s who need your assistance the most. Here are just a few ideas to consider. Donate household items: Charleston Habitat for Humanity CharlestonHabitatforHumanity.com Invest in our youth: Be a Mentor BeAMentorNow.org/volunteer Give blood: The Blood Connection Donate.TheBloodConnection.Org Work with animals: Charleston Animal Society CharlestonAnimalSociety.org/volunteer This spring, we encourage and challenge you to get out there and get involved. If you can serve once a month or even once a year, do it. If you have a shop that can donate items to one of our local nonprofits, do it. Make a difference. Be the change, and let’s make Charleston a true city of generosity. If you accept our challenge, send us a photo to @CharlestonWomen on Instagram with the hashtags, #IAccept and #WeAreCharlestonWomen. Sherrika Myers is a passionate advocate for children. She aims to build their self-esteem and self-confidence, which is why she started the Every 1 Voice Matters — a community outreach program designed to bring real results to families of children who struggle with stuttering, low self-esteem or low self-confidence. With the use of her Lil Herbie (an anti-bullying and stuttering awareness mascot) Series, she can offer books, resources, workshops and more to students. She currently partners with schools, parents and community members to deliver her message. Her organization has even been featured on national networks. The organization is currently offering one-on-one coaching, group workshops and mindset training. For more information, visit Every1VoiceMatters.org, or call 843-781-0503.
