Long before King Street became a runway of boutiques, Serrano was the visionary creating magic from a one-way Spring Street storefront, dressing celebrities and laying the groundwork for Charleston's fashion scene to explode. Now, in her stunning new James Island home, she's created something equally transformative: a Style Lounge that's part closet, part art installation, part creative sanctuary — and entirely, unapologetically Serrano. THE FASHION PIONEER Serrano didn't just witness Charleston's fashion evolution; she orchestrated it. When she and her husband opened Ba'zar and later Suite Sole on Spring Street — back when the street was a quiet one-way thoroughfare with more potential than foot traffic — they were bringing Manhattan-level sophistication to the Lowcountry. Early in her career, while interning with a styling company, she worked on projects for music royalty including Prince, Janet Jackson and Jennifer Lopez. Tucked away in her collection is a piece she treasures, designed specifically for Tina Turner's tour. "I've always believed Charleston women deserved the same level of style found in any major city," Serrano reflects. Her more than 20 years building one of the most respected styling businesses in the region proves she was right. When Charleston Fashion Week was conceived by Ayoka Lucas, Serrano was heavily involved. MANIFESTING THE PERFECT SPACE The story of how Serrano found her current home reads like a masterclass in manifestation. After 19 years in her previous James Island residence, she knew exactly what she wanted: waterfront, newer construction and that intangible feeling of "home."
