I work in the Center for Student Learning at the College of Charleston. I get to support students academically and help them develop new strategies for success and I also hire and train peer educators. I love working with both groups and seeing how they develop over the course of the semester. What do you love about the Lowcountry in fall? Fall holds the perfect beach days. The water is still warm, but the temps drop a bit. This is our fashion issue. Where is your favorite place to shop? 100 percent of my Charleston wardrobe is from House of Sage. It’s walking distance to CofC, which makes it very dangerous for my wallet. AMANDA BUNTING COMEN Where are you located? West Ashley has been my home for most of my life. What is your profession? Running Social ABCs is more than just a job, it’s my passion. I love helping clients tell their stories through social media, email marketing and public relations. It’s incredibly rewarding to see their brands come alive. How does the business world impact how a Charleston woman dresses? Fashion as a Charleston woman in business is about confidence and comfort. Know your worth and what you bring to the table. At the same time, Charleston women are busy. We need our clothes to be comfortable enough to navigate a day of meetings, while cool enough for the hot and humid months. What is your favorite thing about being a Charleston woman? I truly love the deep sense of community. We have a rich history and it’s incredible to live in a city that people travel from all over the world to experience. There’s always something new to discover. And let’s not forget the amazing food scene. We’re truly spoiled with so many delicious options. STEPHANIE LEE Where are you located? Summerville. Tell us about being a woman in construction. Being a woman in construction is about breaking barriers, defying stereotypes and redefining the status quo. Women bring unique perspectives and skills to an industry traditionally dominated by men proving that gender doesn’t limit capability or ambition. Women in construction can also be fashionistas. What are your favorite spots? My favorite spots in Summerville are Fly Modern Apparel, Louise and Fancy Trimmins. You give back to your community. How do you enjoy helping? We are passionate about our community. We’ve all grown up and are raising our families here, so it’s important for us to be involved. We look for organizations focusing on growth, infrastructure and enriching our community. Between the four of us, we serve in Rotary, Junior Service League, Parks & Rec, Dorchester Habitat, Cultural Arts Center, Dorchester Heritage Center and Beacons Mentoring. It’s been a fulfilling experience. We Are Charleston Women
