These local style icons have grown their brands into powerhouses with grit, grind and the occasional GIF. TAYLOR ANN GREEN, @TAYLORANNGREEN “Southern Charm” made you well known throughout the Lowcountry. However, you’re from Asheville. How have these locations influenced your fashion choices? As different as Asheville may seem to be from Charleston, they actually share more similarities than you’d think. I’ve always considered Asheville to be the “Charleston of the mountains.” Even being from this cute little “hippie” town, there are a lot of pockets in Asheville that really encompass that Southern lifestyle and fashion. Growing up attending tea parties, enrolled in cotillion and being a debutante — that true Southern style has always been in me. How does your lifestyle impact your wardrobe? We see you go from beach bum to red carpet seamlessly. Even though I grew up with this classic Southern style —florals, patterns, bright colors — I’m constantly looking for comfort. Living at the beach gives me that chance to walk out of the house with a bathing suit and cover-up and be good to go for the day. It may seem like a stark difference when I’m dressed up for any event, but my must is that I will always be looking for seamless and comfortable. What do you consider when you dress? How does our wardrobe attempt to show who we really are? Like I mentioned before, I’m always looking for clean, simple and comfortable. I just recently started working with a stylist, Jess Perotti (@havenandspruce), who has really helped give my original style a little facelift. She has been my saving grace in helping me polish and clean up my closet — adding timeless pieces that cater to my desire of wanting to be comfortable but still looking like I have my “ish” together, haha. Where are your favorite spots to shop in the Lowcountry? Any in the hometown where Charlestonians love to vacation? My top two favorite places to shop in Charleston are Two Brunettes and Shop L’abeye. Not only are Sarah Leigh and Naomi good friends of mine, I also adore their elevated styles that aren’t going to absolutely break the bank. I love the balance between sweet Southern and clean.
