In the last 10 years, she has developed a profound love of tennis and pickleball, playing competitively in tournaments and leagues. “Pickleball offers numerous benefits, both mental and physical, making it a popular sport for people of all ages,” she explained. When asked about the benefits female players might enjoy, Piscazzi listed cardiovascular health, balance, coordination, strength building, flexibility and joint health as highlights. “The mental aspects of pickleball are huge,” she continued. “It’s fun. Having fun reduces stress and is a natural mood booster. The social aspect alone can contribute to a sense of wellbeing and belonging. I’ve never heard anyone walk off the court and say, ‘That was boring,’” she joked. Moffitt agrees that women reap immense rewards from playing pickleball. “In addition to the cardio benefits, players are mentally keeping score, keeping the brain active, focusing and challenging themselves. As they become more advanced, the balls start coming harder and faster, which allows for progress and tactical play, patience and placement,” she explained. “Pickleball is for everybody; it doesn’t matter if you’re 5 years old or 100 years old.
